In this article we explain how to activate the police connection in your Chekin account and connect to AVS to register your guests.
We also give you details about how the integration works.
NOTE:
AVS has currently only enabled the integration in the regions of Sellin, Glowe and Hesse. If your properties are located in another region, in order for Chekin to connect it, please write an email to AVS support saying something like:
"Hello, I'm a chekin.com customer and I'm looking to send my guest data to the municipality xxx (your municipality) by using the connection Chekin-AVS. Can you enable the integration of Chekin to AVS for the municipality of xxx (your municipality)?"
Please then contact [email protected] to inform us what AVS says.
Activate the Police Connection
In Germany, the reporting system depends on the federal state (Bundesland) where the accommodation is located. Each state may have a different system for submitting guest data, such as Meldewesen, AVS (Allgemeines Verwaltungs-Service GmbH), or other regional tourism authorities.
On the other hand, it is important to note that the three fields that need to be configured in Chekin (Objekt-ID, Firma-ID, and Kurverwaltung-ID) are provided by the municipality (Gemeinde). Accommodation providers must request these three credentials from the local municipal office, as they are required to send guest data via the web service through Chekin.
Steps to Connect Chekin to Your AVS Account
Request Web Service Activation
Before connecting Chekin to your AVS account, you must contact the spa administration or municipality (Kurverwaltung/Gemeinde) and ask them to activate the web service connection with Chekin.
Obtain Your Credentials
Once the municipality has activated the connection, they will provide you with a PDF document containing the necessary credentials (Objekt-ID, Firma-ID, and Kurverwaltung-ID).
Configure the Credentials in Chekin
Use the provided credentials to complete the configuration in Chekin and enable the automatic submission of guest data to the authorities.
Regional Availability
Currently, Chekin has activated the guest data submission interface for the following regions:
✅ Sellin
✅ Glowe
✅ Hessen
If your accommodation is located in a different region, please contact Chekin Support to request activation for your area. The support team will assist in enabling the interface for your municipality.
Once you have the credentials with you, access your Chekin account and go to Properties section.
Enter one of the units you want to connect to AVS and go to the Legal section:
As you can see from the picture above you have to select AVS in the first field and then you will need to fill these other fields:
1. Objekt-ID
Objekt-ID: (Property ID) is a unique identifier assigned to a specific lodging establishment (hotel, hostel, vacation rental, etc.) within the police registration system.
This ID ensures that guest data is correctly linked to the specific accommodation facility that is legally responsible for reporting.
It is typically issued by local authorities or tourism offices (Meldebehörde) when a property is registered for hosting guests.
2- Firma ID
The Firma-ID (Company ID) identifies the legal entity operating the accommodation business.
If a company owns multiple properties (e.g., a hotel chain or a property management company handling multiple vacation rentals), this ID ensures that all properties are linked to the correct business entity.
It may be linked to the Steuernummer (Tax Number) or Handelsregisternummer (Commercial Register Number) of the company.
3- Kurverwaltung-ID
The Kurverwaltung-ID (Spa Administration ID) is used in specific tourist or spa regions (Kurorte).
Many towns in Germany, especially those with tourist taxes (Kurtaxe) or health resorts (Kurorte), require accommodations to report guest data separately to local tourism offices.
This ID links the accommodation to the local tourism authority that manages guest registrations for tourism tax collection and statistical purposes.
All this data as said has to be provided to you by the administration/municipality where your unit is based. The administrators of the municipality can obtain the data from their local access of the AVS registration form on request and provide it to you in the form of the "Configuration overview web service".
In case the administration/municipality have some doubts about those data to provide to you, you can request some help to AVS by sending an email to [email protected]
How the integration with AVS works
Find below the details about how this integration works:
guests data are sent to AVS at 22.00 UTC time;
the guest group is sent all together so make sure before that time to have all guests registered in Chekin;
we can send guests data modifications in case these are done before the print;
also in case of cancellation we can erase guests data from your AVS account only if the print has been not done yet.
