Activate Remote Access
If you have a smart lock and want to activate remote access in your Chekin account, you must first log in to your Chekin account via the web.
Once logged in, go to the "properties" tab and click on your property to access the settings. Then just follow these steps to activate it:
1 - Look for the "Remote Access" section within your property settings.
2 - Click the button to activate it.
3 - Once activated, a pop-up window will appear asking you to select how many properties to activate the functionality on and the total cost of the tool.
4 - Next, you must select your smart lock provider from the options we give you.
5 - Once you have selected it, Chekin will ask you for the username and password to establish the connection.
6 - If the credentials are correct, you will then get another pop-up notifying you that the account has been successfully added.
7 - Click save.
Configuring the door
Once you have connected your Chekin account with your provider, you will need to select the gateway for that property for us to send codes to your guests.
Note: we will show you later on the email sending possibilities we offer you.
To link your door to your property, you must follow the steps below:
Find the "Doors" section in the "Remote Access" section.
Click on the "add door" button.
A pop-up window will open in which you will have to select the type of door, its ID and the name you are going to give it in Chekin.
Among the door types you will have to choose between: building door; flat door; smart box; unknown.
Choose the door corresponding to your property in the ID section.
Enter the name of the door.
Click on "add".
Click on "save".
Configuring the sending of emails and where to check it
Just below the section where you add the doors associated to that property you will find the email settings section that your guests will receive with the door access codes.
You have the option to add text instructions and select the timing of sending these codes.
Some locks require an integration fee to connect with Chekin
If you want to use one of our integrations with smart locks that you can find at this link https://chekin.com/en/integrations/#remote-access you have to bear in mind that some locks companies may require you to pay an extra fee in order to allow Chekin to set up the connection.
The ones that require a fee are: Akiles, HomeIT, RemoteLock.
Also, it's important for you to understand that all the locks you can see at that link with a tag "powered by RemoteLock" (e.g. Yale, Schlage) are not direct integrations between Chekin and those locks: Chekin covers those through Remote Lock. That means that if you have one of those locks and you want Chekin to generate the codes automatically then you will also need a subscription with RemoteLock service and then you will connect Chekin with your RemoteLock account.
