Overview:
If you manage a vacation rental in the Portugal, in order to comply with the local regulations, is mandatory to send guest data to the SEF.
We’re happy to inform you that we’ve just launched the SEF-SIBA web service integration (beta) in the Legal section of the Chekin dashboard.
This new integration allows properties in Portugal to send guest data to SEF using the Web Service method instead of the older “página no portal” method. The feature is currently in beta while we run final validations, and the “beta” label will be removed in the coming days once everything is confirmed to be working smoothly.
For the time being, both integrations will remain available in production – the new Web Service method and the existing "SEF-SIBA" method (which supports the old “página no portal” flow). We expect to keep both options active for 2–3 months, to give existing customers time to migrate.
How can clients migrate from the old “SEF-SIBA” integration to the new one?
Log in to their SEF account at https://siba.ssi.gov.pt/s/an/default.aspx
Change the submission method to Web Service
In the Legal section of the Chekin dashboard, update the field “Automatically send info to” to “SEF-SIBA web service integration”

Below is a simple guide on how to do it using Chekin.
Steps to connect SEF in Chekin:
Step 1. Login to your Chekin account and click on ´Properties´
Step 2. Select the property in question
Step 3. Select ´Legal´
Step 4. Activate the toggle
Step 5. Select the police account, SEF- SIBA (supports the old “página no portal” flow)) or SEF - SIBA Web Service Integration (this is the new Web Service method and is currently in BETA)
Step 6. If you choose SEF - SIBA you will need to fill in the Hotel Unit (NIF), Password, and Establishment number
Step 7. If you choose SEF-SIBA Web Service Integration, you will need to fill in the following fields
Step 8. Click ´Validate´
Your account has now been connected.
NOTE: The guest data is automatically sent to the authorities on the day of check-in around 19.00h UTC. If the guests register past this time, you will need to manually send the data by opening the reservation in Chekin and clicking SEND MANUALLY:
