ποΈ How are properties organized in Tedee?
In Tedee, properties are grouped under Organizations.
Think of an Organization as the container for your locks. It can represent:
A hotel with multiple rooms.
An apartment building.
A group of properties managed by the same host or company.
Each Organization can have several locks assigned. When connecting your Tedee account to Chekin, youβll see a list of your Organizations and select which lock belongs to which group.
π Tip: If you manage multiple properties, organizing your locks correctly in Tedee will make managing them in Chekin much easier.

π§ Step-by-step: Connecting your Tedee account to Chekin
1. Enable Remote Access
In your Chekin dashboard:
Go to Remote Access and enable the feature using the toggle.
This unlocks sections for lock configuration, access rules, and key sharing.
2. Connect your Tedee account
Go to Remote Access > Doors.
Click Add Lock Account and select "Smart Lock".
Choose Tedee as the provider.
A pop-up will open asking you to log in with your Tedee credentials.
Authorize Chekin to access your locks.
Once completed, your Tedee account is connected π
3. Set up your door access
Youβll now be able to configure each door:
Organization: Choose the group your lock belongs to.
Lock identifier: Select the specific lock within that organization.
Door name: Set how you want the door to be labeled in Chekin.
Opening type: Choose between PIN, remote unlock, or both.
Excluded digits: Avoid certain numbers for PIN creation if needed.
β
π’ How PIN codes work
Every time a reservation is created, Chekin generates a unique PIN for the guest:
Valid only for the reservation dates.
If the assigned room/lock changes, the old access is removed and a new one is generated.
After checkout, Chekin automatically deletes the PIN.
π PIN creation rules
Length: between 6β8 digits.
Must contain at least 3 different digits.
No sequential digits allowed (e.g., 123456).
Tedee supports up to 100 active PINs per lock.
β
π² Remote unlock via the GuestApp
If enabled:
Guests will see an unlock button in their GuestApp.
The button will only work during their reservation window.
Key Sharing Settings (like guest registration or payment confirmation) must also be satisfied.
β
π Backup Codes
If PIN generation fails due to a network issue or lock error, Chekin will automatically assign a backup code:
Up to 5 backup codes per lock.
These are permanent and used only once.
Once used, they're deleted and replaced automatically.
If all are in use, Chekin will alert you and block further backup code generation.
